Drop...The Mic

Launching a podcast is maybe not what we thought it would be. We have been friends for twenty-five years and God has always spoken in and through our relationship. He has granted us wisdom and depth of insight in many aspects of life and allowed us to speak His truth into each other throughout our entire friendship. We have lived out iron sharpening iron. We both feel a calling from the Lord to share His word, His truth, His love, with other women. We are both decent with a microphone and know, in that place in your soul where you're supposed to know, that God has given us a platform to be used by Him for His kingdom. A podcast should be easy. It should simply be an extension of what we have already been living out with each other. Bringing other women into our place of encouragement and accountability through a podcast. But there is something about that record button. The mere thought of the words that I am speaking being so....permanent. The realization that those words will be published for (theoretically) the entire world to hear. Can we say panic attack?

1 Corinthians 14 verses 8 and 9 say "if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle? So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air" (NIV). In order for God to actually use us in this podcast, we have to be clear in what we are saying and speak with the knowledge that He has given to each of us. When we tell the stories of our life, whether silly or serious, they must be told with a purpose and that purpose is to point others to God. If our words do not serve that purpose then we are, quite literally, speaking into the air.

What about the words that you speak? Do you use your words to edify others, to encourage, to strengthen, to share God's love? Do you speak with purpose to those around you? To your children? To your spouse? Or, do you find that you mostly just speak into the air? I don't mean that you're talking to your kids and they aren't listening. I mean, are we speaking truth to them? Are we finding the gold in our kids and calling out who God has created them to be? Are we encouraging our husbands to be the man that God has called them to be? Are we speaking truth into and encouraging our friends or judging them?

I pray, sweet sisters, that when you listen to Send Help you find encouragement and the truth of God's word that applies to your situation. I pray that the women whom we have lined up to share their stories with us help you find power in the testimony of God's word to move in your life. I pray that the words that we speak get you ready for battle.

It has been quite a journey for us, figuring out what it actually requires to publish a podcast. We have learned a lot in the last few months, mostly by trial and error. We have recorded and re-recorded. Are we finally ready? Probably not! But we can't wait for you to hear what God has been doing in our lives. Our official drop date for our first two episodes is NEXT Saturday, June 15, 2019. We are so excited to start this journey with you.
